Agora Artes ⎪Exhibition in Berlin

In April and May, the JUNGE AKADEMIE (YOUNG ACADEMY) brings together 25 international artists from all areas in a series of diverse dialogues. The Programme Night on 29 Apr 2017 marks the start of AGORA ARTES, the presentation of works by last year’s Akademie Fellows. The AGORA ARTES / Interplay of the Arts exhibition is shown in a two-week hall installation at Hanseatenweg until mid-May. In video, sound and room installations, María Korol and Robel Temesgen (Visual Arts), Martina Schlusnus (Architecture), Elena Rykova and Niklas Seidl (Music), Kaan Koç and Sergey Lebedev (Literature), Jason Danino Holt and Rima Pipoyan (Performing Arts), Elena Zieser and Rafael Jové (Film and Media Arts) as well as Paulette Penje (Saarland Fellowship) present the results of their teamwork.

Two artworks with my participation are part of an exhibition:

  • UNDER CONSTRUCTION is an interdisciplinary project-installation of free standing canvases/sculptural musical instruments accompanied by animation created together with artist and painter María Korol.
  • MUSIC BOARDS is an interactive musical instrument created together with an architect Martina Schlusnus.

The following pieces of mine are integrated in the performance of Rima Pipoyan "Hey, Kitty!" dedicated to Anne Frank:

Harvard Group of New Music presents: Yarn/Wire

Adi Snir - The Spectacle
Chris Swithinbank - always extra folds of birds of paper and you could move your finger along the length of them and have witnesses
Manuela Meier - new work
Elena Rykova - Bat Jamming
Timothy McCormack - traces that time leaves on built form

- - - - - - -

The Harvard Group for New Music, or HGNM, comprised of composers from the graduate program in music, invites guest ensembles for four different concerts each year. All concerts are free and open to the public, and are followed by a reception with food and drink.

Yarn/Wire is a quartet of two percussionists and two pianists. This instrumental combination allows the ensemble flexibility to slip effortlessly between classics of the repertoire and modern works that continue to forge new boundaries.

Founded in 2005 while at Stony Brook University, Yarn/Wire is admired for the energy and precision they bring to performances of today's most adventurous music. The results of their collaborative initiatives with genre-bending artists such as Two-Headed Calf, Pete Swanson, and Tristan Perich point towards the emergence of a new and lasting repertoire that is "spare and strange and very, very new." With a view of promoting and disseminating the music for piano and percussion as a chamber group, KONTAKTEduo want to explore the music of today, with an attitude of (re)discovery and (re)interpretation - not facing the artistic process as "repetition" but as "reference".
